Q: What is the difference between working height, tower height and platform height?

This needs to be answered in reverse. The Platform height is how far you are standing off the floor, that is, distance between the ground and the upper platform board. The Tower height is the physical height of the tower itself, that is, distance between the ground and the top rail. The working height is how high you can reach when you are standing on the platform. It is a common practice that working height is platform height plus 2 metres. Please see Height Specification for a handy diagram below.

Can I build a tower higher than 7M (working height)?

Yes, our eDIY and MDIY towers can reach a maximum working height of 7.15m (23’5″) and our SUPER DIY has a maximum working height of 9.35m (30’9″).

Can I fit it in my car?

Super DIY 7 will fit into most hatchbacks with its 1m framed design.

Super eDIY range and Super DIY 8/9 will fit into most estate cars.

Do I get outriggers with the tower?

According to EN1004, outriggers are supplied with the tower for working heights of 4.2m upwards to increase your base area making the tower as safe as possible.

Technical

Do I need a certified tower?

The Working at Height Regulations apply to all businesses, a tower certified to EN1004-1:2020 Class 3 Standard will satisfy the WAHR and HSE. Only our Loyal Industrial Towers and Trade King Towers have full certification.

At present, WAHR do not apply for private home/domestic use. So, the eDIY, MDIY and Super DIY towers do not need certification and are only suitable for private home/domestic use.
